The Festival of the La Bogue d’Or (the Golden Chestnut !)

The Festival of La Bogue d’Or was set up in Redon 40 years ago by a group of enthusiasts to revive traditional local songs by means of an unaccompanied singing competition which over the years has turned into a full-blown festival !
The Bogue d’Or features story-telling competitions, fest-noz (Breton singing and dance evenings), competitions for the funniest and most entertaining stories (voted for by the public !), film and poetry evenings, songs for children, songs with a musical accompaniment, film and poetry evenings, songs for children and songs with musical accompaniment, Breton pipes-bombard and other instrumental duos, a trophy for the best live accompaniment of a silent film and a meal with the theme « Savours of yesteryear » at a local ferme-auberge…

The village of Peillac has invented a Singing Walk with traditional marching echo songs.
And if you’d like to see a bubbly, elderly lady leading a song and dance routine on stage backed by 10 young brass players and funky percussionists in front of an enthusiastic audience of 500 (plus other energetic performers!), don’t miss the Bogue d’Or Festival in the Pays de Redon !
