Nearly 3,000 menhirs erected between 5,000 and 2,000 BC, lined up over a distance of more than 4 kilometres: the megalithic sites of Carnac represent a model of monumental architecture on a scale unequalled in Europe. These thousands of menhirs have always captured the imagination of travellers, making them a major archaeological and prehistoric site for understanding Neolithic civilisation.Guided tours are organised throughout the year, ask for the programme. Booking is recommended (groups are limited).
The objects discovered during the excavations are on display at the Carnac Museum of Prehistory (town centre).
Bookshop - shop - exhibition and video room at the Maison des Mégalithes, opposite the Ménec site, open all year round (except 1 January - 1 May - 25 December).
